People Flags are used to add additional information to individual
Person records. Many organizations will just have a few People Flags, such as 'Adult' and 'Child.' But others, such as a symphony might use the flags to show which instruments each person plays ('Oboe,' 'Flute,' etc.). A dance school might use flags to track which class their students are in ('Ballet,' 'Jazz,' etc.).
You can add and group the People Flags in whatever way is most useful to your organization. For the Symphony mentioned above, they may have one group of flags called 'Instruments Played' ('Oboe,' 'Flute,' etc.) and another group of flags called 'Years in symphony' with flags like '1970s,' '1980-1985,' etc.
When you are adding/editing the names of the People Flags you will see the following fields:
- : Give your flag a unique Name. Flag names should be NO LONGER THAN 20 CHARACTERS. Think about how this flag will sort alphabetically - instead of creating flags called 'former student' and 'current student,' create flags called 'student-current' and 'student-former' so these flags sort together.
- : Use this field to group your flags together by giving them the same type.
- : This is the help text that will appear when someone mouses over this flag in a list. Use this to give a better explanation to your users.
- : This shows you how many individual People records have this flag. Click on these numbers to run a report. Remember - each Household or Organization may have more than one Person on their record with this flag.
