Types of Mailings / Phone / Emails to recieve

Each record can be assigned specific types of mailings, phone calls or emails that it can recieve. This is an optional way for you to manage your data more specifically. These are not specific appeals/mailings, such as 'October 2010 Newsletter,' but rather types of communications such as 'Newsletters.' To record specific appeals/mailings that a record has received, go to their Communication page.

Mailings, Phone Calls and Emails can be grouped in some or all of these groups:

  • General Solicitations - those who can receive general requests for money or tickets - this will be most people in your system.

  • Renewal Solicitations - these are people who have given before and should be targeted to renew their gifts. This will be a smaller subset of your General Solicitations list.

  • Newsletters - those who should receive general mailings such as newsletters or postcards. THis might include some corporate matching foundations whom you would never solicit but who donate to you because of their employees.

  • Event Announcements - those who should be sent invites and event-specific information. This will probably only be people in your geographic area.

  • Volunteer Opportunities - those who should be contacted about volunteer positions. These will only be people really committed to your organization.

  • Silent Auction Items - those who should be contacted about donating items to your auction. These will mostly be businesses, but may include some individuals as well.
